Book Corner - Room - Emma Donoghue

"To 5-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits.

Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for 7 years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it's not enough---not for her or for him.

Told entirely in the language of the energetic, pragmatic 5-year-old Jack, ROOM is a celebration of resilience and the limitless bond between parent and child, a brilliantly executed novel about what it means to journey from one world to another" Blurb from the book

At first its kinda hard to get in to because it is written through the eyes of a small boy who had been kept in a small "Room" and obviously it was a little difficult to understand what he was talking about, as soon as I get to grips with how it was written that's when I really got gripped by the book.

The books tells you about their day to day life in the "Room" the little boy Jack thinks that is pretty much all there is in the world but his mother is deteminded to escape and show Jack the world outside the "Room". Once I got in to this book I couldn't put it down. There were parts of this book that left my heart in my mouth I was totally gripped and stayed up until 1am one night to finish it.
Now i'm not going to tell you what happens in the book because I don't want to spoilt it for you if you are wanting to read the book but I would definately recommend it. I found it a really quick read as it really had be hooked so I read it one night I just couldn't put it down.

  1. Might have to look out for it, you make it sound very readable.
